Rescue Robots Act On The Side

Turns out, robots have hobbies too.

Cast members of Texas A&M University’s latest production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream shared the stage with several robotic fairies that, during the production, buzzed around the actors and audience.

The robots took time off from their work at the Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue at Texas A&M–this is their first theatrical appearance. While they probably didn’t go through the agony of auditioning, they did, in all fairness, only land non-speaking parts.

Science Friday’s own Flora Lichtman takes you backstage.
