On this week’s show, we’re talking to video game designer and researcher Jane McGonigal. She is the Director of Game Research and Development at the awesomely-named Institute for the Future. And she’s the author of the new book, Reality is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World.
She has some pretty wild ideas about gaming. She thinks we should be playing video games a lot more, not less. She thinks games can help solve, rather than exacerbate, real-world problems like depression and obesity. And her #1 goal in life is to see a game designer nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Check out her TED talk below, and listen in to the show this week to hear more. What do you think — could gaming be good for you?
