Losing Control in the Movies

by Annette Heist

This week Science Friday talks with Valerie Weiss, the writer and director of Losing Control, a science-y romantic comedy opening in theaters this month. The movie stars Miranda Kent as Samantha, a Harvard doctoral student working on a method to kill sperm, while simultaneously trying to figure out her love life.

So is the film autobiographical? Well, Dr. Weiss just so happens to have a PhD in biophysics from Harvard Medical School, but we’ll leave it at that.

Check out the trailer below. (Caution–salty language!) And tune in Friday to hear more about the movie, and why Weiss left the lab bench for the director’s chair.
