Science Rocks: Heart Chamber Orchestra

by Leslie Taylor

Heart Chamber Orchestra - Pixelache from pure on Vimeo.

All musicians put their heart into their performance -- but not all so much as the members of the Heart Chamber Orchestra. In a collaborative performance created by music collective PURE and artist Erich Berger, 12 classical musicians are wired to electrocardiograms; as they perform, software translates the ECG signals to a visualizations that are projected onto the screen. The heartbeats shape the score and create the images, both of which become progressively more powerful as the musicians become more animated.
