In his day job, Sameer Walavalkar is an applied physicist at Caltech, where he builds nano-sized silicon structures for use in electronics and medical devices. But at heart, he’s an artist. Walavalkar uses a dual-beam focused ion beam to create what he calls “nano-compositions” such as the one pictured at left. (Yes, that really is an eyelash.)
