This week on Science Friday, we’re talking about the connection between science and art with three exciting guests: novelist Cormac McCarthy, filmmaker Werner Herzog, and physicist Lawrence Krauss.

Herzog’s new documentary, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, takes an unprecedented look inside the Chauvet cave containing the earliest known cave paintings — some of which are 32,000 years old. Check out the trailer:

Lawrence Krauss is a theoretical physicist at Arizona State University, where he’s hosting a festival on human origins and culture this weekend. And Pulitzer Prize-winner Cormac McCarthy, whose latest book The Road could be considered literary science fiction, is a fellow at the scientific research organization the Santa Fe Institute. He says he prefers the company of scientists to artists.
