Kinetic Toothpick Sculpture

by Leslie Taylor

Scott Weaver's Rolling through the Bay from The Tinkering Studio on Vimeo.

On display now at the Exploratorium, is the kinetic sculpture Rolling Through The Bay by Scott Weaver. Composed of 100,000 toothpicks, the nine foot tall structure features different San Francisco landmarks. Ping pong balls dropped at the toothpick Coit Tower roll a variety of routes through the toothpick city, stopping by such attractions as Lombard Street, Alcatraz, and Fisherman's Wharf.

Information on how to build your own toothpick bridge (that can support the weight of bricks!) at http://www.pisymphony.com/toothpick/toothpick1.htm
