SciFri Book Club: What We'll Read
by Leslie Taylor
I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but it has been HOT here in New York. When it is this hot, there is nothing I like to do more than stretch out in front of my air conditioner with a good book. And the timing couldn't be better because, after collecting a great (and long) list of suggested summer reading from you, we've selected the book we'll read to kick off the SciFri Book Club. It's time to head out to the library or your favorite book store and pick up a copy of Silent Spring by Rachel Carson.
In Silent Spring, Carson documents the effects of pesticides -- particularly DDT -- on our air, water, and soil. There should be lots to talk about.
We'll convene the first Science Friday Book Club discussion on air Friday July 6th, so get reading! Can't wait to hear what you think about the book!
The views expressed are those of the author and are not necessarily those of Science Friday.
