What Higgs Boson Evidence Looks Like

If you want an idea of how physicists determine whether they have "found" something, like the Higgs boson, here is a chart of the results of one of the experiments.

Note "bump" in this energy chart, indicating "something" is there. Possibly the Higgs boson.
