See 'The City Dark'

If you're of a certain age and even a tiny bit interested in stargazing, you probably have a story about how your night sky has changed. Maybe yours is a tale of gradual dimming. Or maybe, like me, a single entity forever pre-empted your celestial view. (Thanks giant ski slope/ lodge complex 10 miles from my house. I'm sure all those lights need to be on ALL THE TIME.)
 
Filmmaker and amateur astronomer Ian Cheney feels our pain. He lost his night sky when he moved from Maine to New York City. In his new documentary The City Dark (part of the POV series) Cheney looks at the effects light pollution is having on people and animals, and asks "is darkness becoming extinct?"
