What does conservation look like? Over 1500 photographers took a shot at answering that question--by submitting a photo to the 2012 International Conservation Photography competition. (The biennial juried competition was started in 1997, by nature photographer Art Wolfe.)
Over 75 winners were chosen in nine categories, including landscape, community at risk, wildlife, and student. The winning photos are on display at Seattle's Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, from now through November 25, 2012. You can see a sample of the prize winners in the slideshow above. (A travelling exhibition of the top 25 photos is planned for 2013. Check the Burke website for updated information.)
