Maybe it's all the Mars coverage. Maybe it's because I just read that David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust* turned 40 this year. Either way, I've had a mini-playlist of space-related songs shuffling through my head for a couple days: Bowie's Space Oddity (below), Ziggy Stardust, and Life on Mars; Elton John's Rocket Man; bits of Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. It got me wondering about space as a theme/metaphor for rock 'n' roll.
