The Scary Sounds of the 'Singing-Ringing Tree'

by Leslie Taylor

Video by RailMon

In this video, listen to the eerie tones of the 'Singing-Ringing Tree' musical sculpture that sits on the moorland overlooking Burnley, England. Created by architects Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu of Tonkin Liu, the structure resembles a tree from another planet and is made of galvanized steel tubes. Wind passing through tubes creates sounds covering several octaves.
