There seem to be two main concepts behind the new book Life in Color: National Geographic Photographs:
1.) There's a lot of color in the world.
2.) Nat Geo has great photographers.
Works for me.
The nearly 500-page book features hundreds of photos by a wide assortment of photographers. Susan Tyler Hitchcock wrote the accompanying text; Annie Griffiths curated the photos.
Griffiths was one of the first woman photographers to work for National Geographic. She's also the lucky person who got to pick through Nat Geo's archive of nearly 12 million images, to find the blues, reds, and greens she wanted in the book. In an editor's note Griffiths writes that she was on a quest for color, or what she calls "a cherry on the top of the sundae that is photography."
