Two litters of lion cubs were born at the National Zoo this summer. Lioness Shera gave birth to four cubs on August 31 and lioness Naba had three cubs on September 22.
In this video, Craig Saffoe, Great Cats Curator at the National Zoo, talks about his work with animal keepers and veterinarians to prepare the lion cubs for their public debut.
Beginning today, depending on the winter weather, the cubs will be given access to their yard between 12:30 and 1:30 pm. If they're out in the yard, you will be able to see them in real time on the zoo's Cub Cam.
