The Science of Third Base

A major league fastball launched over the plate travels 60 ft 6 inches in 395 milliseconds. When the hitter strikes the ball, it comes off the bat at 120 mph, traveling the 95 ft to Third Base in 500 milliseconds. So, it is less than 1 second from the time the ball leaves the pitcher's hand to when the ball arrives at Third Base!
