THIS WEEK ON

SCIENCE FRIDAY...

December 12, 1997

Hour Two:
Science Gifts:
Our picks of the year to help you fill your shelves with science!

Are you ready to celebrate as the year draws to a close? No? Maybe you're feeling a little stressed. Maybe you're running around like crazy. Maybe you still have a little bit of shopping to do before you can really relax and enjoy the winter holidays. If so, you're in luck. We've assembled some of the nation's top science shoppers for you this year, and they're prepared to offer up their suggestions for the hottest science gifts this season - from big fossils to bird feeders and from telescopes to toys.

Correction: during the's broadcast, Priscilla Wrubel of the Nature Company stated that the Nature Company had done a "number of tests" on one product, the Bio-Sphere, produced by Paragon, before declining to carry the product.

Ms. Wrubel may in fact have been refering to another product, the Eco-Sphere, that was extensively tested by the Nature Company. The Bio-Sphere by Paragon was not as extensively tested, and is not being carried by the Nature Company due to logistical reasons having nothing to do with the quality of the product.
