Hour One: Earthquakes

The confirmed death toll in the wake of last weekend's devastating earthquake on the west coast of India has now passed 14,000 - with estimates that it could approach 35,000 dead. The magnitude 7.5 earthquake is the second major quake of the year. Less than two weeks ago, another strong quake rocked El Salvador.

On this hour of Science Friday, we'll talk about earthquake hazards here and abroad. Plus, what did earthquake researchers learn from monitoring the recent implosion of the Seattle King Dome? We'll find out. Call in with your thoughts and comments at 1-800-989-8255, and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required)
