Hour Two: Grizzly Bears

During the time of Lewis and Clark, more than 50,000 grizzly bears roamed the lower 48 states. Now about 1,100 bears remain. The bears are listed as threatened species, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service must come up with a plan to ensure that the bears survive. Join us in this hour of Science Friday for a look at the biology and of grizzly bears, and the status of a controversial plan to re-introduce the bears in parts of Idaho and Montana.

Call in with your comments and questions at 1-800-989-8255, and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
