A lot has changed in the past few months, but some things stay the same. Among those things -- around the world, scientists will continue to do silly things, and the Ig Nobel Prizes continue to honor (or dishonor) them. In this hour of Science Friday, we present our annual broadcast of highlights from the Ig Nobel awards. This year's prizes were handed out in during a gala evening at Harvard University's Sanders Theater. As usual, a bewildering collection of prizes were awarded for scientific resarch that cannot -- or should not -- be reproduced. The awards are sponsored by the Annals of Improbable Research.
Listen to the highlights from this year's prize ceremony and you'll hear... lots about complexity... a real, honest-to-goodness wedding conducted in sixty seconds... a four-act operetta about life, love, and wedding planning ... (here's the libretto for those wanting to sign along at home) remarks by Don Featherstone, inventor of the pink plastic lawn flamingo... and much much more! Happy Thanksgiving!
