Hour One: Diet and Nutrition

Diet books seem to dominate every best-seller list -- each touting the benefits of a low-fat, low-carb, or low-calorie diet. Often, books disagree with each other on the best way to eat a healthy diet and obtain optimal nutrition.

In thsi hour of Science Friday, we'll tackle the real science behind these diets. We'll talk with diet heavyweights including Dean Ornish and experts from the Atkins Center on their thoughts on winning the battle of the bulge. We'll also find out about the recent recommendations on diet and health put forward by the National Academy of Sciences.

Call in with your comments and questions at 1-800-989-8255, and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
