Hour One: Equipping the Modern Soldier / Cosmology MAP Results

As the US prepares for potential war against Iraq, how will warriors be gearing up? Join Ira Flatow in this hour of Science Friday for a look at what the modern soldier may be wearing, and carrying, to war -- from helmets studded with sensors, to climate-controlled uniforms.

Plus, we'll hear about recent findings in cosmology. Data just released from the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe provides a 'baby picture' of the early years of our universe. Looking at microwave light from just 380,000 years after the Big Bang, scientists believe they can confirm the Big Bang, and help answer key questions about the fate of the universe. We'll find out more.
