Hour Two: Gulf War Illnesses

After the Persian Gulf War, some American soldiers and support personnel reported developing a mysterious set of symptoms -- ranging from diahhrea to memory loss -- now known informally as Gulf War Illnesses. In this hour of Science Friday, Ira Flatow and guests talk about the Pentagon's plan to protect the health of the troops now in the Middle East, and why some veterans think the plan won't do enough. Plus, we'll get the latest on research into possible causes and treatments for Gulf War illnesses.

Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255, and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
