Hour Two: SARS Outbreak
While the war in Iraq has much of the world's attention
focussed on the Persian Gulf region, an outbreak of an unusual respiratory
illness dubbed SARS (for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) has helath
experts around the world concerned. To date, the outbreak has killed
over 50 people worldwide. Researchers believe that a previously unknown
virus may be the cause of the disease. Ira will talk with World Health
Organization expert about efforts to find the cause of SARS, and a
way to stop its spread.
