Hour One: Ig Nobel Awards
It's the day after Thanksgiving, and that can only mean one thing
-- yet another helping of stuffing. But for all you faithful Science
Friday listeners, you know that it's time for our annual broadcast
of this year's Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony ... recognizing science that
cannot - and should not - be reproduced.
As usual, the Annals of Improbable Research hosted the awards earlier
this year on the Harvard University campus. The evening, with master
of ceremonies Marc Abrahams, featured Ignitaries, real Nobel Laureates,
and an operatic tribute to the love life of an oxygen atom (sing
along here.)
Tune in and hear about renting the country of Liechtenstein, the
chemistry of a statue that for some reason fails to attract pigeons,
the Association for Dead People, and more. This is a pre-recorded
show, so please don't call. Share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
