Hour Two: San Antonio Remote: Preserving The Missions

The Missions Concepcion, San Jose, San Juan, and Espada were all built in the 1700s by the Spanish Catholic church as religious settlements along the San Antonio River. Now, nearly three hundred years later, the stone buildings of the missions are showing signs of old age, including leaking roofs, stone erosion, damaged plaster, and original frescoes in need of repair.

This hour, live from San Antonio Texas, we'll talk about ongoing efforts to restore and maintain the missions' still-active churches and their surrounding structures. It's a lot more work than a simple trip to the hardware store. Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (3-4 Eastern), and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
