Hour Two: Teaching Evolution / Brian Greene

This week, education officials in the state of Georgia reconsidered a controversial plan that would have stricken the word 'evolution' from the state science curriculum, to be replaced with the phase 'biological change over time.' Though the word 'evolution' is now back on the books in Georgia, many science educators were incensed over the original wording change. In this hour, we'll talk about the controversy.

Then, Ira talks with physicist Brian Greene about the universe and how it came to be the way it is. Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (3-4 Eastern), and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
