2004: Ron Reagan made waves this week, speaking before the Democratic National Convention in favor of stem cell research. In this hour of Science Friday, Ira and guests look at new research into how transplanted stem cells might be used to treat stroke. Plus, we'll hear about what's cooking in food technology, including designing space cuisine for astronauts. A recent meeting of the members of the Institute of Food Technologists contained new research into topics from obesity to crisper lettuce. We'll find out more. Plus, a farewell to DNA pioneer Francis Crick, who died this week at the age of 88. Crick shared the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 1962 with James Watson for their work in deciphering the structure of the DNA molecule.
