Hour Two: Fish Stories

Researchers have found that much of the fish sold as 'red snapper' in the United States may actually be something else. In this hour of Science Friday, guest host Joe Palca talks with an author of the study about what it means.

Then, it's on to the unusual behavior of the midshipman fish, which hums to attract a mate. New research into the fish indicates a connection between the hormone levels in the female of the species and its ability to hear the humming males.

Plus, jellyfish are putting in their summer appearances in some parts of the world, with large 'blooms' of jellies off the coast of parts of the United Kingdom. We'll talk about jellyfish, and whether jelly blooms have a deeper meaning. It's a trio of fish tales -- and we won't try to tell you about the one that got away.
