Hour Two: Deep-Sea Asphalt Life / The Spring Bug Show

After seventeen years in hibernation, Brood X (said "Brood Ten") cicadas are making an appearance across the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic states--and it might be the largest insect emergence on Earth. Several other broods also emerge this year. In this hour, our annual spring bug show emerges onto the airwaves. We'll talk about the cicadas, and about how another insect, the locust, shaped the development of the US.

Plus, deep sea asphalt isn't the barren wasteland that you might associate with manmade asphalt driveways and parking lots on land. We'll hear about natural deep sea asphalt flows and the creatures that live in, on, and around them. Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (3-4 Eastern), and share your opinions online in our Listeners' Lounge (registration required).
