: French Doctors Perform First Partial Face Transplant
What were the greatest scientific discoveries of the last century? We probably all think of the theory of relativity, or the structure of DNA, but what about the Krebs cycle, or the development of antibiotics? In this hour of Science Friday, host Ira Flatow is joined by physicist and author Alan Lightman. Lightman's new book "The Discoveries" is a survey of the best in 20th century science.
Plus, a French woman who was mauled by her own dog has received a partial face transplant. This hour, we'll find out how such transplants work, and take a look at the ethics involved.
Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (3-4 Eastern). Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
