Avian Flu / Science Dictionary

The bird flu spreading through Asia has killed more than 40 people and has led to the slaughter of millions of animals. Now scientists say the flu virus appears able to spread from person-to-person, and they are watching anxiously for signs of a pandemic. In this hour, join guest host Joe Palca for an update on the fight against the flu, including plans to move flu medicine into the affected areas.

Plus, we'll talk about putting science into words in a new science dictionary. How is the language of science changing? Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (3-4 Eastern). Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
