- Radio Expeditions: Sylvia Earle , "Atlas of the Ocean"

Join Ira Flatow in this hour for a conversation with undersea explorer and marine biologist Dr. Sylvia Earle about the state of our oceans ...and a global plan for ocean conservation. Earle, one of the National Geographic Society's 'Explorers in Residence,' is known for her extensive underwater work -- to the point that she's been saddled with nicknames such as as "Her Deepness" and "The Sturgeon General." Dr. Earle has led more than 60 expeditions worldwide involving in excess of 7000 hours underwater in connection with her research. We'll get her perspective on the watery world around us.

Plus, we'll get the latest in dinosaur news. Last month, fossil-hunters in Argentina reported the discovery of the earliest and most complete example of a dromaeosaurid known. The dromaeosaurid was a small dinosaur related to today's birds. Last week researchers announced the discovery of a fossil crocodile-like animal with the head that looks more like a Tyrannosaurus -- a find that was dubbed 'Godzilla' by fans. This week, evidence (in the form of fossilized dung of sauropod dinosaurs) for grass-eating dinos was announced.
We'll get the latest on all the dinosaur news.Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (2-3 Eastern). Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
