Planet Search Targets / Nuclear Energy

In his most recent radio address, President Bush said he wants to increase the use of nuclear energy in the US, including starting construction of new nuclear plants by the end of the decade. In this hour, we'll talk about nuclear power and its advantages and disadvantages. Can the public's safety and environmental concerns be answered?  (Nuclear Energy Map)

Plus, researchers have released a "short list" of stars to target in the search for life elsewhere in the universe. We'll talk to an astronomer about how to narrow down the possible universe of star targets to find stars likely to have worlds similar to our own, or even to have life. Call in with your questions and comments at 1-800-989-8255 (2-3 Eastern). Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
