Wireless Open Access / Electronic Voting Update / Minneapolis Bridge Collapse

This week the FCC announced that it would require companies vying to use one part of the radio spectrum to allow any device running any software to access it. Later this year, wireless companies will bid on a portion of the 700 megahertz band of the radio spectrum. In this hour, we'll look at the decision to require a certain amount of open access to that band, and what it could mean for wireless technology.

We'll also get an update on electronic voting machines. Researchers in California were asked by state officials to try to hack into several different types of electronic voting devices certified for use in California. We'll talk with the leader of the electronic 'red team' hacking effort about what the team found.

We'll also get an update on the Minneapolis bridge collapse. A highway bridge carrying I-35W traffic over the Mississippi River collapsed Wednesday night. We'll talk about bridge engineering and our nation's infrastructure.
