Ig Nobels 2007: Playbill Annals of Improbable Research

It's time for our annual Thanksgiving holiday tradition -- highlights from this year's Ig Nobel awards ceremony. This year marks the 17th First Annual Ig Nobel ceremony, a tribute to science that first makes people laugh, and then makes them think.

The awards were handed out in early October by the editors of the science humor magazine the Annals of Improbable Research. This year's ceremony features awards for research into sword-swallowing, wrinkled sheets, and the effects of Viagra on jetlagged hamsters, among other things. The theme of this year's ceremony was ' chicken.' This program is pre-recorded, so please don't try to call in. But if you're not chicken -- listen in. Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
