Pioneering heart surgeon Michael DeBakey died last week at the age of 99. He was responsible for many of the processes that have become a common part of the medical arsenal, including coronary bypass surgery and ventricular assist devices. In 2003, Dr. DeBakey spoke with Ira about his life and work. We'll hear a short excerpt from that interview, and talk about his legacy. Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
