2008 In Social Media (broadcast Friday, December 19th, 2008)
From Twitter to Flickr to Facebook, 2008 was a year in which 'social media' flexed its muscles. New online tools helped people follow the news -- and in some cases, including the elections and hurricane season, became a part of the story. In this segment, we'll talk with technology guru Tim O'Reilly about the year in social media, and what comes next. O'Reilly, the founder and CEO of a company that publishes books, magazines, and web content for the tech savvy, is a leading proponent of interconnectedness and interaction online. We'll talk about how social media interacted with each other and with the offline world. Teachers, find more information about using Science Friday as a classroom resource in the Kids' Connection.
