As health officials continue to investigate an outbreak of salmonella poisoning linked to a peanut processing plant, we'll take a look at the FDA and its operations. President Obama has yet to appoint someone to oversee the agency -- and some observers have suggested that the time may be ripe to split the agency, separating the 'food part of the FDA from the 'drugs' part. Does the agency have the tools, staff, and funding it needs to fulfill its duties? Is it time for an overhaul of the agency? |
