VIDEO: FLY OVER A MARS ROVER WORK SITE
On June 22, 2007, Ira checks in with a researcher hunting for traces of water and signs of past life on Mars. Recent sightings by the Spirit rover of concentrated areas of silica on the surface may hint at past water. In this video, fly over the Spirit rover's work site-- "Columbia Hills" region inside Mars' Gusev Crater. Imagery taken by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter provided detailed, three-dimensional information that was used to create this animation, according to NASA.
