Squid (the kind served as calamari) can make their skin pulse different colors. Biologist Casey Dunn and his student Sophia Tintori were interested in how this works, so they asked their colleagues at the University of California, Santa Barbara for an explanation. Tintori explains the phenomenon in the first episode of what they've dubbed CreatureCast. Visit CreatureCast.org for more intriguing animal stories. Courtesy of Casey Dunn. Audio production and animations are by Sophia Tintori. Music by That Thing Over There and Lucky Dragons.
