Squids On Screen: The SciFri Cephalopod Movie Night Is Back

We’re bringing the cephalo-party to L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, and New York!

Squidstock? Cephapalooza? Octo-chella?

Cephalopod Week is back for its fourth year, and Science Friday is teaming up with Atlas Obscura for a series of ceph-centric events in four US cities, and we want you to be part of all the action.

New YorkGrab a drink and learn about what it takes to film these strange creatures with screenings of short cephalopod documentaries and a conversation with Science Friday video producers.

  • When: Monday, June 19, 7pm-9pm
  • Where: Lovecraft Bar, 50 Avenue B, New York (Ave B, between 3rd and 4th streets)

Los AngelesThe evening begins with an underwater puppet show, followed by screenings of short cephalopod documentaries, a Q&A with Science Friday’s Senior Radio Producer and an octopus-wrangling aquarist from the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Chicago—Join us at a maritime themed tavern for screenings of short cephalopod documentaries and a Q&A with local cephalopod experts.

San Francisco—Sip a special cephalopod-themed beer, enjoy several short cephalopod documentaries, explore hands-on marine science stations, and engage in riveting conversation with local scientists.
