The late Joanne Chory was an HHMI Investigator, Howard H. and Maryam R. Newman Chair in Plant Biology, professor and director of the Plant Biology Laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, and adjunct professor of biology at the University of California, San Diego.
