Alan Alda kicked off the event with a champagne toast to Ira, noting that they both share an admiration for cephalopods and microbes. The night continued with a high-energy demonstration of static electricity from education manager Ariel Zych, followed by an announcement of Undiscovered, Science Friday’s new podcast, hosted by Elah Feder and Annie Minoff.

And thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we raised $400,000 to help support all of the work we do interviewing scientists, crafting award-winning videos, writing original web articles, and creating resources for teachers.
