Dr. Darren Naish is an author, consultant and palaeozoologist who has published over 90 technical articles and books, including Dinosaurs: How They Lived and Evolved (2016), The Great Dinosaur Discoveries (2009), Walking With Dinosaurs: the Evidence (2000), Dinopedia (2021), Mesozoic Art (2022) and Ancient Sea Reptiles (2023).
His 2012 book All Yesterdays is regarded as one of the most influential books published on palaeoart.
Specialising in Cretaceous pterosaurs, predatory dinosaurs and dinosaur biology, his 2006 PhD studied he tyrannosaur Eotyrannus. He has named 17 new species of marine reptile, pterosaur, dinosaur and crocodilian and has appeared as an expert on numerous television series including those of the BBC and National Geographic Channel.
Darren was the consultant for the 2016-2018 traveling exhibition “Dinosaurs in the Wild,” and runs the Tetrapod Zoology blog, currently in its 20th year and generally regarded as the world’s best and most authoritative zoology-themed blog. In 2022 he spoke at the United Nations Science Summit.
For the past several years, Darren has worked with the BBC Natural History Unit on a ground-breaking, CG-based series on Cretaceous life. Here, he has had key responsibilities in designing the look and behaviour of the animals, for the accurate development of storylines, and for providing technical content.
