Jeff Hou, PhD, FASLA, is Provost’s Chair Professor and Head of the Department of Architecture at the National University of Singapore, where he co-directs the Civic Resilience Lab. A pioneering scholar in bottom-up urbanism, Hou’s work focuses on civic engagement, community design, public space, and empowerment of marginalized communities. He is the editor of Insurgent Public Space: Guerrilla Urbanism and the Remaking of Contemporary Cities and the co-editor of City Unsilenced: Urban Resistance and Public Space in the Age of Shrinking Democracy.
