Ray Chao is the SVP & GM of Audio and Digital Video at Vox Media, where he leads the podcast and video businesses for Vox Media’s portfolio of media brands.
During his tenure leading the podcast business at Vox Media, he led the acquisitions of Criminal Productions and Preet Bharara’s Cafe Studios; strategic partnerships with Longform, Gastropod, MKBHD’s Waveform, and The Pitch; podcast franchise expansions into video, subscriptions, and terrestrial radio; and talent deals with Kara Swisher, Noel King, and Sam Sanders.
Previously, Ray led corporate strategy at New York Public Radio and was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman. He received his bachelor’s degree in public policy from Princeton University, and currently resides in New York City. Ray joined the Science Friday Board in 2022.
