Dr. Helen Scales is a marine biologist, journalist and acclaimed author. Writing for adult and young readers, her work explores the living wonders of the ocean with the ambition of inspiring more people to care about the vast, blue parts of our planet. Her books have been adapted for stage and screen, and translated into 17 languages. What the Wild Sea Can Be was shortlisted for the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction and the Wainwright Prize for Conservation Writing. Helen divides her time between Cambridge, UK and the Atlantic coast of France.
